Hello, I know it’s been a while since I posted anything on this site and, to tell the truth, it’s because I wasn’t really satisfied with the content I was publishing. To be more specific, I started regarding the content as empty and sterile. Most of my posts have been a photo or sketch with a minimal amount of descriptive words. This format wasn’t what I wanted in a blog. So, I just stepped away for a while. Taking time to re-think the direction, or if the blog should continue to exist at all.

During my time of silence I have been thinking of what I really what this blog to be. I want it to be more of a personal reflection of who I am as a creative person. I want to be honest with my readers. Honest about struggles or doubts. Honest about procrastination and hesitation. Honest about internal struggles when it comes to creating and sharing my work.

I guess what I’m saying is that I want the blog and my posts to convey personality and not just “hey, look at this…” I want this blog to be more transparent, more vulnerable, and simply more me.

In my head, I have being weighing the future of this blog for quite some time. I believe, I have came to a decision to just put myself out there and see what happens. I want to publish content that can spark interest, conversation, & community among my readers and fellow bloggers.

I’m not going to establish a schedule for releasing posts. I will simply publish content when the muse strikes and I have something of value to say or share.

From this point forward I am going to disable the like function on my future posts. The like button gives the reader a quick and easy way to acknowledge the post, or perhaps the effort that went into it. And…there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that, I certainly like other people’s blog posts all the time. But, what I want to do is see if I can encourage comments instead. Actual interaction with each other using thoughts and sharing opinions, encouragement, or constructive criticism.

The overall focus of this blog really shouldn’t change, it will still have a primary focus on art and photography. However, I plan to start sharing not only things I create but also work from others that inspire me in some way. This may be recommendations to check out other artists or people that are inspiring others with their work. The thought being that if their work inspires me it may inspire my readers and fellow bloggers as well.

So, expect to start seeing post from me again shortly. I have decided to pull back the curtains a bit and share a bit more of who I am.

If you have read this in it’s entirety, then, I say thank you. It means a lot to me that you are willing to take the time to read what I have to say. I sincerely thank you for doing so.

I hope you have a great day, and I plan to say hello again soon.

  1. Glad to see you posting again, I missed seeing your superb sketches! I can emphasise with the period of self-reflection you’re going through; I’ve been going through the same with my work and decided to experiment more with conceptual photography. I’m guessing all the Covid stuff is responsible for a large part of this. I’m looking forward to reading more from your blog in the future and seeing where it goes!

  5. Hi Mike. I totally agree with you. In an extreme case, I felt quite disillusioned with my previous blog and I paused. The only issue is that I paused for 10 years before returning to it! Ha! I’m glad I chanced upon Luís Costa’s blog and that reminded me of what I’ve always wanted to do and it has given me a new burst of energy and more importantly, purpose.
