We experienced an unexpected treat a few evenings past. A very active thunderstorm was passing to our south. Even though this storm was producing an unusually high amount of lighting, thunder was rarely even noticed. We drove to the highest point in town and I was able to capture these images. All of these are 30 second exposures. The lightning strikes were taking place beyond the ridge seen in the distance.
It was an impressive site for certain. We spent around 30 minutes just watching the storm pass by. It’s a rare treat to be able to observe such a storm without actually being beneath it. We were high and dry and simply enjoying the show. It was a great way to spend a Friday evening. – MDL
