Back in August of this year one of my blogging friends, Hedy, who blogs at SloppyBuddhist posted some wonderful horse photos.

Immediately, I thought her photos would make great sketch references. With Hedy’s permission to use her photos I placed them “in the que” of sketch material. I have finally made it around to creating a couple of sketches.

I hope you like them.

I encourage you to check out Hedy’s photography at SloppyBuddhist. Also, click here to see the post that inspired these sketches!

Have a great day – mdl

  2. Horses are tricky creatures, I had the awkward experience of one of my artist friends showing me the latest portrait of a horse alongside the source photo. I didn’t know quite what to say as it was pretty dreadful, from someone who is usually very good at representing animals.

I’ve also found the same, it’s so easy for horse art to look wrong – one of my first instagram posts was of three horses and one of my friends piped up and said that one had a fat head πŸ™‚

I’m glad to say that no such observations here Michael, I think the best approach is from an unusual angle πŸ‘
