Small town streets

So…Confession…I’m really drawn to black and white street photography.  I admire those who are brave enough to snap photos of complete strangers in the streets.

I would like to give this genre of photography a try.  But, I’m hesitant.  I worry that someone may react negatively to being photographed by a stranger.  I know this fear is common among novice street photographers.  I am working on overcoming this fear by carrying my Canon point and shoot camera during walks with my wife and our dog, Katie.

I live in a small town, foot traffic is light, so subjects are few and far between.  But, I’m on the lookout for opportunities, quick to capture something or someone of interest in my lens.

Below are a few photos that were taken this week, during our walks with Katie.

The library seems to be a popular spot.

Our old girl Katie as she s-l-o-w-l-y makes her way down the street.  I liked the split between her and her reflection in the shop window.

I hope you enjoyed this little selection of photos. I hope to begin posting more photography again. However, I will not let dust gather on my pens or pencils. I plan to maintain my drawing habit and keep posting artwork.

Have a great weekend! – Mike
